Tasting - "Yalumba Museum Muscat"

  • Name: Yalumba Museum Muscat
  • Variety: Muscat
  • Region: South Eastern Australia
  • Country: Australia
  • Year: non-vintage
  • Price: $22.95
  • Critic Review: 96 points, Robert Parker. The non-vintage Museum Reserve Muscat boasts a medium deep amber hue as well as stunning aromas and huge flavors oozing with glycerin, sweetness, honeyed figs, jammy berries, and notions of tea, molasses, and prunes. This wine does not improve in the bottle, but it will last for many years.
  • My Review: On the smelling of this wine, I got somewhat of a woody smell to it, with a slight sweetness on it. It was extremely sweet on the taste, almost like drinking straight honey with berry jam, relatively thick on the palate. It had a surprising low level of heat, considering that this was a fortified wine. I would love to drink this wine with every dessert I have for the next 3 years (or until I get tired of it).
